Proposal Expiration Dates

How to set and manage proposal expiration dates

Written by James Kupernik

Proposals now have customizable expiration dates that you can configure at the organization level and adjust on individual proposals as needed. Previously, all proposals expired one year after creation. With this release, organization owners can set a default expiration window that fits their sales cycle, and Comfort Advisors can extend or reset expiration dates on individual proposals.

Setting Your Organization's Default Expiration Date

This setting is available to users with the Owner role.

  1. Go to Settings.

  2. Select Proposal Settings.

  3. Locate the Auto-Expire Date field. The default is 365 days.

  4. Enter the number of days you'd like proposals to remain active (for example, 30).

  5. Click Update to save your changes.

This setting applies to new proposals going forward. Existing proposals will keep their original expiration dates.

Managing the Expiration Date on a Proposal

Comfort Advisors can adjust the expiration date on any individual proposal. There are two places to do this.

From the Theme Editor

  1. Open the proposal.

  2. Click into the Theme Editor.

  3. Update the Expiration Date field.

  4. Click Save.

From the Share Modal

  1. Open the proposal.

  2. Click Share Proposal.

  3. Update the Expiration Date field.

  4. Select the email address you want to share with.

  5. Click Share.

When you share the proposal, the expiration date is updated automatically and the proposal is re-shared with the customer.

What Customers See When a Proposal Expires

When a customer opens a proposal that has passed its expiration date, they'll see an expired-state message in place of the proposal content. The proposal is no longer accessible to them until the expiration date is updated.

As the Comfort Advisor, you can still view the proposal in your own presentation view. A small indicator appears in the upper-left corner showing that the proposal has expired.

Reactivating an Expired Proposal

If a proposal has expired and you'd like to share it with the customer again, update the expiration date using either method above (theme editor or share modal).

Important: Any existing share links you've previously sent the customer will reactivate the same proposal once the expiration date is updated. You don't need to send a new link β€” the original link will work again.
